about
Startover deals with time as an inescapable variable, whether it be between two people, an interaction on the bus, recalling magical moments as a kid, or watching history repeat itself. We wrote this song bundled up and hunkered down together during the Minnesotan winter. Little did we know what the spring had in store for the whole world with COVID-19. The song asks the question, “When the future seems dark and uncertain, will you be there for me?” We think the answer is yes.

lyrics
Wind it back to simpler days
turn back time to our old ways
birds above the 9 bus
singing songs about us
if you’re going to look away
know that i am here to stay
this is not a chick flick
movie with a plot twist
Fireflies glow green in your eyes
flickering lights dim down low then rise
These eyes I know are looking past me
It’s not a show I’m seeing clearly
Turn around, maybe we’ll start over now
Would you break me out from the mould
And could you carry my burdens whole
If the skies were to descend would you give me reason to walk through the embers and coals
I’m not searching for X’s and O’s
I’m not hiding behind lost shadows
I’m just praying that we can start right where we began before it was empty and cold
Summer nights fall heavy now
Like a blanket pressing down
Backs against the drywall
Silence like a rainfall
Unsaid words like dust they float
Fireflies stuck in my throat
Green we glow together
Knowing no forever
